Healthy Eating
Providing you with healthy options is something your dining team proudly does every day. We help you select delicious, nutritious and satisfying meals, snacks and desserts by highlighting well-balanced menu choices and providing nutritional information and tips to help you make choices that fit your needs.
Food Allergies and Accommodation Process
As a FARE certified school, we take pride in serving you wholesome ingredients, preparing recipes accurately and providing nutritional analysis and ingredient statements through our online menus and nutrition calculator. From our general manager to our front line servers, we work carefully to address food allergies, celiac diets, or other special dietary needs.
Our menu system provides ingredient statements specifically highlighting the big eight allergens: milk, eggs, shellfish, fish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, & soy. Guests may check on the presence of allergens prior to planning their meals using the online menu, Bite app, and nutrition calculator. The absence of an allergen listed on posted or electronic product signage is not a guarantee that the product is free of that allergen. The guest is responsible for communicating their allergy to a supervisor or manager to ensure safety.
If you have a food allergy/special diet concern or would like to begin the accommodation process, fill out the Food Allergy, Diet & Nutrition Accommodation Form. After you fill out the form, a meeting with an AllerTrain Certified Sodexo staff member will be set up at your convenience. We want to meet one-on-one with anyone who has individual dining needs to ensure that your dining experience is safe, delicious, and social. You can also email us directly at westmontcollege.usa@sodexo.com with any questions.
Temporary COVID Based Exemption: This exemption request option is a case-by-case temporary meal plan exemption for students with an ongoing medical issue that has been exacerbated due to COVID restrictions limiting options in the Dining Commons. If you are requesting this type of exemption you will choose "Spring 2021 Temporary COVID Based Exemption" on the Food Allergy, Diet & Nutrition Accommodation Form.
Gluten-Free Options
The Gluten Intolerant Options Program (G.I.O.) was designed to allow students with a gluten dietary restriction to swipe for a gluten-free item at no-additional charge. Students on this program must submit proper documentation and be approved by the Campus Dietitian. Students not on this program can still get gluten-free items at dining locations by simply paying an additional fee.
My Zone
My Zone is our campus “pantry” where food items needed by students with Celiac disease or nut allergies are stored and prepared with precautions against cross-contact. This area is free of tree nut, peanut and gluten-containing ingredients and products.
To receive a key to the My Zone pantry please fill out the Food Allergy, Diet & Nutrition Accommodation Form and a Sodexo manager will set a time to meet for your My Zone Orientation. Please plan to set aside 30 minutes for the orientation, this gives us the opportunity to tailor your dining experience to meet your specific nutrition needs.
Simple Servings
Simple Servings is our resident dining option, providing safe and appetizing food choices “ready to go” for our customers with food allergies, gluten intolerance, or those who prefer plain and simple foods. The Simple Servings station does not offer foods made with the FDA most-common allergens of peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, wheat, soy, milk products, and eggs. All foods offered will be made without gluten-containing ingredients. Simple Servings staff members are carefully trained to avoid cross-contamination of their menu items. Separate equipment, storage areas, utensils and preparation areas minimize, but do not totally eliminate, the chances of gluten and allergens in our Simple Servings foods.
Simple Servings is open to anyone and is located in Ullman Dining, running seven days a week for lunch and dinner on weekdays and weekends. Check out our menu for Simple Servings menu today HERE.
